Marion County Wins Regular Season District Championship

T he Marion County Warriors baseball team was faced with a tall task in its pursuit of the regular-season district championship. Trailing Sequatchie County by two games in the district standings, Marion County needed to win both remaining contests. After a Game 1 win on the road, the Warriors followed up with a 4-3 win at home to secure home-field advantage in the district tournament.

Whitwell Softball Throttles Grundy County

T he Whitwell Lady Tigers softball team hosted the Grundy County Lady Yellowjackets last Monday. Whitwell dominated the first meeting between the two teams earlier in the season, winning 7-1. The Lady Tigers were able to defeat the Yellowjackets once again, this time by a score of 9-3.

Miss National Cornbread Pageant 2026

W ith the immensely popular National Cornbread Festival on the horizon, other related events have been taking place, such as the annual Miss National Cornbread Pageant. Just like many years before, the show was held at South Pittsburg’s Princess Theatre on Saturday, April 18. The pageant began at 6 p.m. and the registration fee was $25 for all visitors, alongside admission being $5 for adults and $3 for students.
