James Elbert Pickett, 65

James Elbert Pickett, 65 of Whitwell was called home on Tuesday, November 11. On December 21, 1959, he was born to James Hoyt Pickett and Wilma Sue Bozarth Pickett in Whitwell.  James was a truck driver for Fletcher’s Trucking in his earlier years.

He enjoyed life, meeting new people and had a humorous personality.  James was a good person and had an adventurous spirit about him.  He loved his family and loved spending time with them.  James loved Tennessee football.

James is preceded in death by his father James Hoyt Pickett and brother Benny Pickett.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother Wilma Sue Bozarth Pickett, son Kevin (Lauren) Pickett, brother Jeff Pickett (Amy Micka), sisters Wilma (Mike) Minter, Sherry (Stanley) King and Mary Sharp, granddaughter Kayla Pickett, several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation was on Friday, November 14 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 15 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services were also on Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Davaughn Richardson who officiated.

James was laid to rest on Saturday November 15 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper immediately after the funeral services were held.

Pallbearers were Rodney Anderson, Josh Pickett, Stanley King, Josh Webb, Mike Minter and Jerry Hamilton.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at NHC in Dunlap, Tennessee for all the years of special care for James and were considered an extended family to him.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
