Dennis Ray Mainord, 71

Dennis Ray Mainord, 71 of Whitwell was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 21. On December 1, 1953, he was born to the late Steve H. and Thelma Rhodes Mainord in Jasper. Dennis was married to Bonnie Miller Mainord and was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  He worked in the Grundy County School System for 35 years as a girls basketball coach, teacher and principal.  He served most of his time in education in Palmer, Tennessee. Dennis was a loving husband and father. He loved dogs, especially his dog, Speck, who was his buddy.  He was also a true craftsman, building his own house and loved tinkering with everything.  He also loved motorcycles and rode in the Trail of Tears.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father Steve H. Mainord, mother Thelma Rhodes Mainord and sister Judy Cash.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife Bonnie Miller Mainord, son Brent Mainord, brother James G. (Linda) Mainord, as well as several other family members and special friends.

Visitation was on Wednesday, September 24 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, September 25 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services were also on Thursday, September 25 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Billy Waters who officiated.

Dennis was laid to rest on Thursday, September 25 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper immediately after the funeral service was held.

Pallbearers were Eddie Miller, Mike Mainord, Derek Miller, Houston Mainord, Jake Foshee and Jeff Kirk.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
