Firefighters from various fire departments in Marion County banded together to put out a reported house fire in Haletown in the midnight hours of Thursday, July 10. The blaze claimed a resident at the home.
Firefighters from the Haletown Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) at approximately 12:48 a.m. were called in to a structure fire located near the 2029 address on Highway 134. Ten firemen, two tankers, and one tanker were sent out to the scene, with HVFD calling in for additional aid from Jasper Highlands Fire Department, Sequatchie Volunteer Fire Department, as well as Jasper Fire Department while on route.
Upon arriving to the scene, firemen immediately got to work putting out the fire, with flames growing stronger by the minute in the interior of the home. The firemen were able to make their way into the bedroom to help the victim in whom was left trapped by growing flames. However, upon arriving to the bedroom of the home, the victim was found deceased.
After the fire was extinguished, investigations were conducted on site. All units involved eventually departed from the premises at approximately 3:45 a.m.
Upon sharing the story on their Facebook page, HVFD’s post was left with comments of both praise as well as prayers. Some who have commented praised all first responders involved for their hard work and dedication into putting out the fire. Others also expressed their condolences to the family of the victim whom tragically passed away during the inferno, expressing prayers to the family and loved ones of the victim, while also for the safety of the firefighters involved into the emergency. Those of HVFD strive to continue keeping all residents of Haletown and beyond safe from all forms of dangers big and small. Especially hazards relating to fire.
