Rachael Anunziato

Jasper Memorial Post 6362 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars has selected Rachael Anunziato of Marion County High School as their Citizen of the Week for her entry in the VFW’s Voice of Democracy essay competition. Rachael, a 10th grade student, not only won the Post 6362 contest, but also came in 2nd in the 3rd District of the VFW as well. Presenting her award is the Post VOD Chairman John Zapata.
In her essay she states: “Even though I’m only sixteen and cannot yet vote, there are still many ways I can show support and patriotism for my country. By respecting national traditions, staying informed, volunteering in my community, focusing on education, and living by the values of kindness and respect, I can make a positive difference. Patriotism is not just what we say, it’s about what we do every day to make our country stronger and more united. My goal is to continue showing pride in my country through my actions now, so that when I am old enough to vote and take on more responsibilities, I will already be doing my part as a proud and active citizen.”
