The Marion County Lady Warriors and Warriors were in action last Thursday night against F.C. Boyd Christian. The Lady Warriors avenged an early-season loss with a 47–35 victory, while the boys picked up a convincing 71–40 win.

There wasn’t much defense in the first quarter, as Marion County scored 17 points and Boyd Christian added 16. Jazzy Layne led the scoring with two triples in the period. Chrysia Timmis followed with four points, while Emma Pryor connected on a shot from beyond the arc. Jacy Gatlin scored two points, and Kaylee McGowan and Tori Rymer each added a free throw.

The defenses picked it up in the second quarter, but the Lady Warriors still outscored the Lady Broncos 8–7. Gatlin and Timmis accounted for all of Marion County’s scoring with four points apiece. It was the third period when Marion County began to pull away, holding Boyd Christian to just three points. Timmis led the quarter with four points, Pryor added three, and Layne chipped in one.

Marion County slammed the door shut in the final quarter, scoring 14 points. Pryor knocked down two big three-pointers, while Heidi Freeman also connected from beyond the arc. Rymer made three free throws, and Gatlin rounded out the scoring with two.

The boys’ game was never really in doubt, as the Warriors scored 22 points in the opening quarter. Jordan Potoski led the way with eight points, Noah Gravitt had five, TJ Starkey added four, Zaiden Humphrey scored three, and Maddox Campbell finished the quarter with two.

The second period continued to be productive for the Marion County offense. Senior Zade Pemberton led the way with five points, while Gravitt connected on a triple. Mychal Patterson, Starkey, Potoski, and Humphrey each added two points in the quarter.

The Warriors went on to score 32 points in the second half, continuing to put the ball through the hoop. Potoski finished the night with 22 points, Gravitt had 13, Starkey added eight, Pemberton contributed seven, Neno Humphrey scored six, Humphrey had five, Patterson finished with four, Jackson Adamski added three, and Campbell chipped in two.
