The South Pittsburg Rotary Club will host the “Interact Clubs Showcase of Service” beginning at 6:00 PM CT on Wednesday, February 19.  The Princess Theater on Cedar Ave. in South Pittsburg is the presentation venue and it’s free for all to attend!  This event puts the spotlight on student leaders and offers the community an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of Interact Club members from Marion County, South Pittsburg, and Whitwell High Schools.

Interact is a service club for young people ages 12-18.  Sponsored by local Rotary Clubs, like South Pittsburg, Interact Clubs give young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and making new friends.

Interact Clubs at Marion County, South Pittsburg and Whitwell High Schools have had a busy and impactful year. Their projects have ranged from environmental stewardship to hands‑on community support, reflecting a strong commitment to “Service Above Self.”

Among their major initiatives, students participated in the Tennessee River cleanup (in partnership with Tennessee RiverTowns Stewardship events), helping restore and protect one of the region’s most important natural resources. They also partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, building and delivering beds to children who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor or in unsafe conditions.

Throughout the year, Interact members volunteered at senior living facilities, assisted teachers and children at Head Start, and helped distribute dictionaries to every third‑grade student in Marion County, continuing a long‑standing Rotary literacy tradition.

The upcoming showcase will give these students a public platform to share what they’ve accomplished and how their projects have strengthened the community. It also serves as preparation for their District Interact Conference in March, where they will present alongside clubs from across the region (Eastern and Middle TN).

South Pittsburg Rotary Club leaders and the Interact Club Sponsors at each high school hope the event will draw strong community support.

“These young people are already making a real difference,” Kim Hobby South Pittsburg Rotary President said. “Their energy, compassion, and leadership deserve to be recognized. When the community shows up for them, it reinforces the value of service and encourages them to keep going.”

The Interact Clubs Showcase of Service is free and open to the public. Community members of all ages are encouraged to attend, cheer on the students, and learn more about the positive work happening in local schools.
