Kimball’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BoMA) has recently made motion to accept Sammy Burruss as the town’s newest addition into the local Board of Zoning and Appeals (BZA).

During BoMA’s first city meeting of the year, Mayor Rex Pesnell suggested to the board to accept Burruss into the BZA following Mike Clepper’s resignation in December. All aldermen unanimously agreed to his proposal, the motion being carried over with official approval from the council.

Kimball’s BZA, similar to other communities, oversees the municipalities’ zoning ordinances and regulations. This oversight ensures any new projects, whether residential, commercial, or industrial conducted within the community abide by all local code. Pesnell explained if issues were to arise regarding a specific ordinance, appointments and appeals can be made with the BZA to address any ongoing concerns surrounding a specific ordinance.

“They would make the final decision with any issues that would come up,” said Pesnell. “We have five members on that board.”

With the city’s approval, Burrus is now the town’s newest BZA member, happy and at the ready to serve the community within Marion County.
