The South Pittsburg Pirates are having a strong season so far, and they continued to prove it last week with a dominant performance against St. Andrews-Sewanee. The Pirates earned a commanding 85–24 victory on Jr. Pro Night.

On a night meant to recognize the youth of South Pittsburg, the present gave fans plenty to be excited about. Senior Alex Phillips caught fire in the first quarter with 13 points, including three baskets from beyond the arc. Nicoli Burton added seven points in the period, Dayon Cooper had five, Brandon chipped in four, and Kaveon Smith rounded out the scoring with two points. South Pittsburg exploded for 31 total points in the opening quarter.

Khalil McCrae, Goldsmith, and Sutton all led the scoring in the second quarter with four points apiece. Cooper, Phillips, and Shannon Pendergrass each added a bucket as well. At the end of the first half, the score stood at 49–12.

Goldsmith led the way in the third quarter with eight points, while Phillips followed closely with seven. Cooper knocked down a free throw to round out the scoring for the Pirates in the period.

Senior Braxtin Blevins led the scoring in the final quarter with six points. Ashton Hardy and Burton added four points apiece, while JR Hardrick, McCrae, and Pendergrass each had a basket. Phillips finished as the game’s leading scorer with 22 points.

The Pirates secured a dominant win over Sewanee and will look to carry that momentum as far as possible.
