The Whitwell Tigers played the second game of a back-to-back last Saturday on the road at Oakwood Christian Academy. The night before, the Tigers had secured a big win over Grace Baptist Academy, 66-47. Whitwell followed it up with a 71-25 victory over OCA.

The Tigers got off to a fast start in the first quarter, converting turnovers into easy points at the rim. Senior Tyson Brashears led the scoring in the quarter with seven points to start his night. Sophomore Colin Beason wasn’t far behind with six points. Sophomore Jordan Powell added five points, while Bennett Goforth contributed a bucket and Gabe Ross a free throw.

Powell led the scoring in the second quarter with eight points, while Brashears and sophomore Brody Harvey each added six. Ross also contributed a bucket, giving Whitwell a 43-22 lead at halftime.

In the second half, the Tigers scored 28 points while tightening their defense, holding the Eagles to just three points. Powell continued his hot streak with eight points in the third quarter, and Brashears added seven. Harvey and Ross each contributed two points.

Harvey finished the night strong with six points in the fourth quarter, totaling 14 points. Powell led the team with 21 points, just ahead of Brashears, who finished with 20. Beason and Ross each scored eight points, and Goforth finished with one bucket but made an impact in numerous ways.

The Tigers are back on the road at Hixson on Friday, December 12. Varsity Girls tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the Varsity Boys.
