As the cold winter months approach us and Christmas creeps closer, every child deserves the best. Some kids wish for bikes and dolls or maybe a puppy, but others may not even have a warm and safe place to sleep. That’s what the MCHS Interact Club set out to help with; they sponsored a bed build for the county. “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” and the Interact Club have a long-running history, year after year, of providing large amounts of beds for children in need.
This year was no different. On Saturday, November 15, members of the Interact Club and many other volunteers came together to build a total of 25 beds. With a partnership alongside Collins Building Materials and a donation of wood by Josh Kilgore, they made it happen. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the volunteers and club members sawed boards, constructed the frames, and poured love into every second of their work. Not only that, but they also provided fitted sheets for each bed made.
A yearly tradition by the non-profit “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” and the MCHS Interact Club, all involved created more than just a warm place to sleep but also a long lasting memory that each individual deserve. “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town” wouldn’t be true without the support of those who volunteered.
