Downtown Jasper’s popular ice skating rink is making its return on Saturday, Nov. 22, just in time for the upcoming Christmas season.
The town’s seasonal attraction was first introduced in November 2023, quickly gaining popularity within the community. The town’s Board of Mayor & Aldermen the following year agreed to a $39,779 bid submitted by synthetic ice producer Skate Anytime for the purchase of open property, located directly in the heart of the county seat. The city at the time aimed to acquire ownership of the space to both help support local businesses and the general economy, as well as add longevity to how long it remains open to the public. The city additionally felt it would financially benefit from the ice skating rink by owning it rather than renting it, as the city had done in 2023.
The ice skating rink will be located directly off of Academy Street, directly beside Tennessee Behavioral Therapy. This year’s opening day will take place on Saturday, Nov. 22 and ticket prices for children will be $5.50 and adults 12 and older $7.50 per person. Hours of operation will also vary, every Thursday and Friday opening from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
