Staff and students alike at Chattanooga State Community College’s Kimball campus have gathered together for the school’s annual Spooktacular event in celebration of Halloween.

Each year, Chattanooga State hosts the event to provide students both treats and activities to partake in during the spooky season, furthering student engagement within the school halls. Jerry Lynn Tuders, Office Supervisor for the campus, explained this year’s event had a large selection of pizza ordered for students and staff to enjoy by the main Chattanooga facility, in addition to a costume and door decorating contest, a rollover seatbelt demonstration from Tennessee Highway Patrol, and lasso demonstrations presented by student Brady Higdon.

Tuders noted the Chattanooga campus similarly hosts the event each year, the Chattanooga Spooktacular being larger in scale compared to Kimball’s. Tuders stated that Kimball’s staff wanted to incorporate the event to allow it’s festivities to be celebrated by local students, negating the need to travel all the way to the main facility to partake in the event. Doing so allows for students residing in Marion County to not feel left out from the Halloween themed activities that the main college provides.

“We’re not on the main campus and we don’t have all the resources that the main campus has. But we do want them to feel like this is their school,” said Tuders.

In addition to the annual Halloween celebration, Chattanooga State is set to hosts other activities throughout the remaining holiday season, promoting student engagement and activities to the local campus.
