The Board of Mayor & Commissioners in South Pittsburg agreed to two donation requests during this month’s city meeting.
During the meeting, Commander Kim Jordan of Marion County’s American Legion Post 62 requested the board to make a $500 donations towards the Legion’s Costume Ball event. Upon the request being made, the board approved it and has since donated the funds in support of the event. The costume ball was recently hosted on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and featured a variety of activities, performances, and music for guests to enjoy.
The second donation requested was by Cody Henegar of South Pittsburg’s junior pro basketball program. Henegar stated the request is for $3,000 supporting referee costs, uniforms, and general coverage for participating players. Mayor Shawn Hensen questioned Henegar if previous administrations approved similar donations. Henegar assured him that similar donations were approved in the past.
The board unanimously accepted Henegar’s request alongside Jordan’s for the costume ball event, and all donations have since been made.
