Jasper’s Board of Mayor & Aldermen has officially approved the demolition of the modular unit located at the original elementary school facility off of Betsy Pack Drive.

The town’s mayor, Jason Turner, requested further permission from the board to have the facility demolished after no bids for its purchase were submitted. Discussion around the facility first began during last month’s meeting, where plans to have the facility removed, in addition to the elementary school were brought up . Bidding for the mobile classroom was approved for a 30 day window. OLG Engineering was to conduct remediation work for the old elementary school prior to its planned demolition.

The board unanimously approved the mobile classroom’s demolition, with it since then now already removed from the premises.
