Located right off of Main Street in Kimball, directly off Highway 64, is Marion County’s newest addition to the retail and video gaming market.
Opening its doors back on the 4th of July, Retro Pixel Games looks to bring the gaming scene both old and new alike to the area with a wide range of collectibles, consoles, and video games of varying genres. Alex Creekmore and Cody Adams are the owners of the community’s newest establishment, with both of them being avid collectors of all things gaming. Creekmore explained how much of what is in stock was collected by them over the years, with them first beginning to sell off products online during the pandemic in 2020, when many physical retail stores and businesses were left to shut their doors. Over time, both of them participated in different flea markets and conventions until eventually deciding to open up an entire physical location right in the heart of Marion County.
“I feel like we needed something local. There isn’t a lot of things to do around Jasper, and you know, what’s better than video games?” said Creekmore.
Retro Pixel hosts a large selection of varying consoles and games from throughout the decades , ranging from the original Super Nintendo all the way to games for the popular PlayStation 5 console. Games old and new, developed by the biggest names in the industry are also in stock for enthusiasts to purchase and enjoy while at home. Titles range from Mario and Grand Theft Auto, to Call of Duty, Halo, and Need for Speed. Additionally, various collectibles dedicated to iconic characters from other sources of popular are on display within the large assortment of entertainment products.
One of Retro Pixels’ main services is offering trade-ins for customers to utilize, as customers can trade-in gaming related products for credits. Customers can additionally sell off their collected games or consoles to both Alex and Adams. Each product sold or traded are then cleaned up and tested for play to ensure that all games and consoles alike are in working order for the next customer to purchase them.
“We have a lot of local people that have just been waiting for a place like this to open. For when they come in, it just takes them back in time,” stated Alex.
Upon Retro Pixel Games opening for business, the facility received much support from clientele across the area and beyond, with visitors from all around the greater Chattanooga metropolitan area, as well as from nearby Georgia and Alabama stopping by to browse and share their support. While talks have been made between both Alex and Adams in the past to potentially expand upon the business, both are nonetheless always happy to serve the community with their gaming and retro needs within their current location.
