BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST), based within the heart of Chattanooga, plans to phase out its Shared Health medical subsidiary as late as early 2026.
In a report released by News Channel 9, chief communications officer and SVP of BCBST Dalya Qualls White stated that the medical facility is to wind down operations with its Shared Health subsidiary facility. Shared Health is a healthcare provider who offers various benefits and plans, with their mission of eliminating health disparities by removing barriers and allowing for smooth access to different medical services and Medicare for those seeking it. Their services are also provided to residents of Mississippi and Texas.
Shared Health is situated within Scenic City, where around 150 employees remain staffed for the facility. However, all 150 jobs are projected to be cut off between this September and early 2026. All layoffs and changes are to take place through various phases within the given time frame, with BCBST to continue providing support to all Shared Health members until the end of their coverage terms are met.
