Vice Mayor of Kimball Jerry Don Case shared during this month’s Board meeting that new site plans for a Zaxby’s restaurant have been officially approved, clearing the way for construction.

The announcement that Zaxby’s would be coming to Kimball was first made in November 2024, when the community’s Planning Commission approved the fast-food chain’s original site plan for 104 Battle Creek Road. However, progress was delayed pending approval from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) due to the location’s proximity to Highway 72.

Vice Mayor Case explained that changes were made regarding the restaurant’s location because of the high cost associated with the original lot. As a result, Zaxby’s representatives opted for a more cost-effective location at Kimball Crossing, where a Pizza Hut previously operated. Case also noted that Zaxby’s found the new site more convenient for development, especially with the need to first demolish the existing building.

The Planning Commission approved the revised site plans and construction is now expected to begin soon.
