The continued use of fuel tanks provided by JAT Energy in Chattanooga has been fully approved by the Marion County Commission.
Cory Pickett of the County Highway Department recently informed the Commission about issues with one of the department’s primary fuel tanks. He explained that the tank, which had been in service for over 30 years, was found leaking gasoline one morning when employees noticed a strong odor. Upon discovering the leak, the department immediately contacted JAT Energy to remove the fuel. The company also offered to replace the old tank with a new portable one capable of holding up to 1,000 gallons of fuel.
Pickett noted that JAT Energy is the only major provider in the region offering fuel and oil services compatible with the department’s needs. He requested approval from the Commission to continue using JAT’s tanks to ensure a reliable fuel supply for county vehicles and equipment.
“They’re the only entity we have that offers that kind of service, and we need fuel on site,” Pickett told the board.
The County Commission unanimously approved the request during its monthly meeting. Fuel from the leaking tank will be credited back to the Marion County Highway Department.
