The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has received approval from the County Commission for the renewal and upgrade of its iSOMS system.

County Mayor David Jackson explained that the upgrade will cost $54,000. With a $50,000 budget provided by M&M Micro Systems Inc., the software’s developer, only $4,000 remains to be covered. Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnett emphasized the need for the update, noting that the department’s system hasn’t been upgraded in eight years. He stressed the importance of modernizing the software so deputies and detectives can operate efficiently using in-car laptops and stay current with today’s technological standards.

iSOMS is an internet-based system used in law enforcement and local government operations for data management and dispatch. It stores arrest records, tracks code enforcement, and maintains radio communication logs.

The County Commission unanimously approved the renewal and upgrade, and the Sheriff’s Department will now implement a fully updated iSOMS system for staff use.
