Whitwell’s Ella Grace Harvey has been a four-year starter for the program. The senior signed with Tennessee Tech to continue her academic and athletic career at the Division I level. After being limited to just two games during her junior year, she has impressed in every facet of the game during the final season of her high school career.
The Lady Tigers’ lineup features only three upperclassmen, with the rest of the roster made up of sophomores and freshmen still adjusting to the high school level. As one of only two seniors, Harvey has embraced a leadership role both on and off the field.
This season, Harvey has dominated in a way that places her among the top players in the state in several statistical categories. She is currently batting .477, with an on-base percentage of .527. Her 1.064 slugging percentage ranks second in Class 1A, a strong testament to her power at the plate. Her eight home runs also place her second in Class 1A and among the top ten across the entire state of Tennessee.
Defensively, Harvey has been just as reliable. Over her entire career, she has committed only three errors, consistently showcasing her fielding skills. In the circle, she has posted a 4.67 ERA over 36 innings, ranking her 20th in Class 1A.
Harvey has achieved all of this while facing the toughest schedule in Class 1A. Whitwell’s only Class 1A opponents have been within their district, further emphasizing the strength of her performance. With her impact on both sides of the ball, Harvey has forever cemented herself as one of the best Lady Tigers to ever step onto the diamond.
