The regular season has officially come to an end for all Marion County area teams. It feels like the season just began, but tournament time is already here. Last Wednesday, the Marion County Lady Warriors played their final regular season game on the road against Chattanooga Central—and they made a statement, cruising to a 9-0 victory.

The Lady Warriors got on the board early, scoring in the top of the first inning with two RBI singles. Destiny Winters drove in the first run of the game, followed by Emma Pryor, who brought in the second with her own single. Marion County maintained their scoring rhythm with two more runs in the second inning, both coming off a Chattanooga Central error.

The fourth inning proved to be the big one, as the Lady Warriors exploded for five runs. Senior Reese Saylors delivered a two-run single, while Kaylee McGowan tripled to drive in another. Pryor added her second hit of the night, bringing in the final two runs of the inning.

Brynna Thomasson turned in another stellar performance in the circle, earning the win. She allowed just three hits over five shutout innings, striking out nine and walking none.

Offensively, Pryor led the way with two RBIs, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Saylors was also a standout, stealing two out of the Lady Warriors four bases. Defensively, Marion County was sharp, finishing the game without committing an error.

The next day, Marion County carried their momentum into the district tournament, defeating Bledsoe County and earning them an advancement towards the second round of the district tournament.

Marion County will play in the District Championship on Thursday, May 8 at 5 p.m. The game will take place in Sequatchie County.
