The Powells Crossroads Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BoMA) approved the final reading to simplify Section 7 of the zoning codes.
Ordinance #2026-88 centers on simplifying zoning code Section 7, particuarlily replacing the original documentation of the code in favor of a newer, easier to understand format. During the meeting, Alderman Greg Davis noted the ordinance takes out numerous amounts of wording and simplifies the documentation of each zone within the community, making each public document more accessible to read.
“It’s graphical in nature now,” Davis said. “Instead of having to read a lot of different things that’s on the list, the listing is in tabular and data form. It’s a whole lot easier to read.”
Alderman Larry Higdon added because of the documents being more streamlined and easier to follow, it allows for the reader to examine community code without the worry of confusion when reading through each set of town law. It was also acknowledged the ordinance can allow for quicker answers for concerned residents and business owners to receive regarding a specific business or agricultural zoning code, allowing better explanation and swifter answers for any questions presented.
“This helps as far as people still wanting to look at things in tabular form,” said Davis.
The Powells Crossroads BoMA unanimously passed the second and final reading of Ordinance #2026-88, allowing Section 7 to be officially replaced in favor of newer, more streamlined documentation of community code for the public to examine when needed.
