The town of Orme is set to receive a donation of three or more speed bumps from South Pittsburg’s Board of Mayor & Commissioners (BoMC) following the board’s recent city meeting.
According to South Pittsburg City Administrator Michael Hudson, members of Orme’s city council reached out to him in a letter requesting a donation of new speed bumps to use for the community’s local roadways. He stated that he has spoken with South Pittsburg’s street department supervisor Will Maynor about whether the city has additional speed bumps that can be sent over to Orme. Afterwards, he confirmed the city does have a surplus amount of speed bumps that can be donated to Orme, further allowing the board the opportunity to approve the donation.
“They said it would greatly help with their situation, and they didn’t think they could financially afford to buy new speed bumps,” Hudson said. “So “I’m hoping this board will be gracious enough to donate them for free.”
The BoMC unanimously voted to send off new speed bumps to the town of Orme free of charge, ensuring the nearby community can now utilize speed bumps of their own for incoming traffic.
