William “Bill” Howard Bowman, 82, of Jasper was called home to be with the Lord on September 12. On July 22, 1942, he was born to the late Robert Leon Bowman and Mabel O’Neal Bowman. Bill was married to Janis “Jayne” Yarbrough Bowman for fifty-four years. He served in the United States Navy from 1958-1961. Bill owned Bowman’s Towing and Alignment for 45 years. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, drag racing and watching NHRA and NASCAR. He loved spending time with his family, grilling, and cooking on his smoker.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, Robert Leon Bowman; mother, Mabel O’Neal Bowman; son, William “Billy” Herman Bowman; brothers, Sam Bowman and Connie Bowman.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Janis “Jayne” Yarbrough Bowman; daughters, Donna (Curt) Sims, Terri Bowman Condra; brother, Robert “Bobby” L. (Janice) Bowman; grandchildren, Adrienne (Alex) McKenzie, Taylor (Keely) Condra, Grace (Payton) Downs, Kyle and Caleb Sims; great grandchildren, Cole Bowman, Kreedynn and Oakley Condra, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
The family will hold a private family visitation. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee with Pastor Wayne Bowman officiating. Pallbearers were Curt Sims, Taylor Condra, Caleb Sims, Kyle Sims, Ed Hoelewyn and Eddie Childers.
The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their thoughtful care of Bill. Special thanks to Ed Hoelewyn and Bill’s grandson, Taylor Condra, for always being there for our family and Bill.
