Whitwell’s Garrett Miller has been a cornerstone of the football and baseball programs throughout his four years at the school. A senior captain on the football field, Miller began his career as a tight end known for catching touchdowns in the back of the end zone before selflessly moving to the offensive line in his final season. That move perfectly reflected who Miller is as a teammate—someone willing to do whatever it takes to put his team in the best position to win.
The same mindset carried over to the baseball field, playing the sport he has loved since he was four years old. Each season, Miller worked to improve his game. Just when it seemed like his career had reached its end—after helping lead Whitwell to its first-ever appearance at Spring Fling—an opportunity opened up: a visit to Roane State.
Following that visit, he quickly signed with the program. For the next two to three years, Miller will live out his dream of playing collegiate baseball. Roane State finished last season with a record of 28–29.
Miller has played a vital role in the Tigers’ resurgence over the past four years. From the moment he stepped on the field as a freshman, he was the starting catcher, never missing a single game throughout his high school career. Offensively, he consistently hit in the third to fifth spots in the lineup, proving to be a reliable presence at the plate.
He earned All-District honors every year of his high school career. Known as the “iron man” of the Whitwell program, Miller’s durability and dedication have set him apart.
Roane State is gaining a player who will work hard, show up when needed, and—most importantly—never miss a game. After a standout high school career, Garrett Miller is ready to bring that same level of commitment and success to the collegiate stage.
