At the January 11 Whitwell City meeting, City Manager Lonnie Cleek reported that the (restroom) facilities for the public park will be closing for the season.

As the weather is expected to worsen and park activities decline, the public park restrooms and water access have been closed off. This decision was made to prevent freezing and potential pipe damage. Despite this, the park remains open for public use throughout the year. Cleek emphasized that while the Parks and Recreation board strives to maintain the park year-round, the decision to halt water flow was necessary due to the imminent ice and snowstorm.

Although the park remains open, the public is advised to use discretion and caution in all areas. Look forward to the public restrooms and water access reinstatement for more fun when summer returns.
