In a hoops showdown between Whitwell and Bledsoe, the girls’ team emerged victorious with a final score of 48-36, while the boys fell short with a final score of 71-65.
The girls’ team showcased a stellar performance, securing a convincing win against Bledsoe. A standout player for Tigers was Ella Grace Harvey, who dominated the court with an impressive double-double—17 points and a staggering 20 rebounds. Harvey’s commanding presence in the paint played a pivotal role in the Tigers’ victory. Stephanie Miller contributed with 5 assists and 2 rebounds, while Mollie Rogers added to the scoring with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
In the boys’ game, Jace Wooden emerged as a scoring force, putting up an impressive 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Bryce Davidson showcased his prowess from beyond the arc, going 4-for-7 from the 3-point range and posting 12 crucial points that brought the Tigers back into the game. Meanwhile, Bubba Smith accounted for 6 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, while Gavin Grimes had 6 assists and 8 points of his own. Despite the loss, players like Payton Roberts and Ramsey West contributed on both ends of the court, with Roberts securing 5 points and 5 rebounds, and West tallying 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 6 points. Charlee Casseday contributed with 4 assists, while Mallory O’Neal added 9 points and 1 rebound, rounding out Whitwell’s collective effort in a six-point loss.
The Tigers will play in South Pittsburg on Friday, December 8. JV Girls begin at 3:30 p.m., JV Boys at 4:30 p.m., Varsity Girls at 6 p.m. and Boys at 7 p.m.
