Weaver Tree Farms, a family-operated establishment out of West Jefferson, N.C., has set up shop selling Christmas trees within Chattanooga’s suburban community of Red Bank.
John Weaver, who alongside other members of the Weaver family, own and operate Weaver Tree Farms. He explained every year, the family sells a variety of Christmas trees for the holiday season, each tree on display transported from the main farm in North Carolina directly to the current retail site in Red Bank. The retail site is located off of Signal Mountain Road near Highway 27, and is the Weaver’s only retail location.
“It’s the only retail location that we have now, and this is our 40th year,” said Weaver. “Forty years we’ve been here in Chattanooga.”
The large majority of trees sold consisted of Fraser ferns and white pines, each coming in a variety of heights small and large. Each season, the family receives a host of clientele near and far looking to purchase a tree for the holidays, including customers out of Marion County, according to Weaver. The family also has long time recurring customers who travel to Red Bank each year to purchase a tree directly from the family operated business.
“Most of it is year, after year, after year. I’ve known most of the customers and their families,” said Weaver. “We’ve known a lot of people for a very long time.”
In addition to Christmas trees, various wreaths, holiday décor, and all tree-based essentials were provided for customers to purchase. The family opens shop each November the Friday prior to Black Friday, allowing them to be early and on schedule for the holiday season.
