Temperatures across the Sequatchie Valley, and the rest of Tennessee, are predicted to rise up into the 60s.

According to an 8-10 Day Outlook report released by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), temperatures across the Volunteer State are expected to rise 40-50% above average between Jan. 10 to Jan. 16. Within Marion County, temperatures are expected to rise well into the 60s along with a small chance to go into the low 70s.

“In Tennessee, we are forecasting a lot of days in the 60s,” said Meteorologist Alex Libby of WKRN 2 in a post on Facebook. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we see 70s in some spots.”

Marion County, along with the rest of the state, recently experienced warmer than normal temperatures during the week of Christmas, temperatures rising well into the high 60s to low 70s during the same week. Areas including Monteagle, Sewanee, Coalmont, and Winchester have set brand new records for the warmest Christmas Eve temperatures in their respected histories. All four towns reached 72 degrees, which shattered Monteagle’s original 69 degree record that was set back in 1964.

While warm weather is predicted to be imminent, the weather is nevertheless subject to change as the new year continues further through the month.
