Wanda P. Hitchcock, 85 of Chattanooga, Tennessee was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 30. On March 22, 1940, she was born to the late James Kay Pittman and Gladys Elizabeth Curtis in Sequatchie. Wanda was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church and was married to Joe Hitchcock since 2002. She worked for Pioneer Bank as an assistant manager for 25 years. Wanda was a very caring person who loved church and going on senior citizens outings. Her family lovingly nicknamed her “The Boss”. Wanda enjoyed traveling, collecting Fenton glass, talking on the phone, flowers, and mowing the lawn. She was known for her fudge as well as her yellow cake with fudge icing. She loved spending time with all her family, especially her daughters, grandchildren and husband.
Wanda is preceded in death by her father James Kay Pittman, mother Gladys Elizabeth Curtis, daughter Angela Kay Rogers, brothers Richard Lee Pittman and Kenneth Wayne Pittman, and sister Alma Ruth Parmer.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband Joe Hitchcock, daughters Gay (Scott) Rogers and Paula (Matthew) Ware, step son Mitchell (Shelley) Hitchcock, brother Eddie Pittman, sisters Patty Gravitt, Carolyn Brackett, Brenda Miller, Margaret Muir and Charlotte (Jim) Patterson, grandchildren Jeremy (Nikki) Pruitt, Brent (Kristina) Pruitt, Brandon Nunley, Brooke Ware (Cody Payne), Caroline (Jacob) Reagan, Evan (Josie) Hitchcock, Travis (Keisha) Hitchcock and Courtney (Joseph) Lucas, 12 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST (11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET) at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services were also hosted on Thursday, September 4 at 1 p.m. CST (2 p.m. ET) in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Steele who officiated.
Wanda was laid to rest on Thursday, September 4 at Lakewood Memory Garden West Cemetery in Lookout Valley, Tennessee following the funeral service at 3 p.m. CST (4:00 ET).
Pallbearers were Jeremy Pruitt, Brent Pruitt, Brayden Pruitt, James Muir, Michael Pittman, Evan Hitchcock, Brandon Nunley, Jason Muir and Matt Helms.
