Velma “Grace” Gibson, 81, of South Pittsburg left this world on Saturday, November 30, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She lived in South Pittsburg her whole life. She retired in 2004 from TVA. She loved her family and friends, and they were very special to her. Any life she touched made a lasting impression. She was the most selfless person and always had a hug. She was fun to be around and will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her. She also loved her music.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Johnny Russell and Raymond Rorex; parents, Charles William Gibson Sr. and Grace Elizabeth Gammon; sister, Laura Dean West; brothers, Dale Gibson and P. W. Walker; nephews, Drew Gibson and Jackson Harris.
Survivors include her sister, Rose Crouch; brother, Charles “Chuck” W. Gibson, Jr. (Mitzi); daughter, Ramona Branham; son, Randall Rorex (Anna); grandson, William McKinney (Katie); a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 5, at 1 p.m. in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, 400 Laurel Avenue, South Pittsburg, with Brother Sam Whited and Brother Seth Tolliver officiating. Ms. Gibson will be laid to rest at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, December 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the South Pittsburg Funeral Home chapel.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Guess, Rickey McCallie, Buster Crouch, William McKinney, Chuck Gibson, Joshua Posey and Brad Gibson.
