Vella Mae Hogsed, 88

Vella Mae Hogsed, 88 of Kimball and a beloved mother of four passed away peacefully on May 26, surrounded by her loving family

Born in Hiawassee, GA on May 20, 1937, she lived a life full of devotion, kindness and faith.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Vella was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport for 60 years and most known for her kindness, giving spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends.

Vella was preceded in death by her husband James M. Hogsed, as well as her parents Hubert and Bertha Arrwood.

She is survived by her children Ricky J. Hogsed of Stevenson, AL, Michael (Mickey) A. Hogsed (Tammy) of Soddy Daisy, TN, Vicki H. Jacobs of South Pittsburg and Stephanie N. Hutcherson (Cam) of Kimball, nine grandchildren including Jaime Chitwood, Drew Hogsed, Mayden Hogsed, Meredith Collins, Henry Jacobs, Heath Jacobs, Haven Moss, Catelyn Sturchio and Hannah Hawkins, sixteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in the South Pittsburg Chapel on Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Ronnie Case officiating.

Visitation will also be held on Saturday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport or St. Jude in her memory.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Hawkins, David Sturchio, Mayden Hogsed, Drew Hogsed, Heath Jacobs and Henry Jacobs.

Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Chitwood, Eric Collins and Clay Moss.
