Posted on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:28 pm

With the natural backdrop of the colorful fall foliage, Tennessee American Water employees held a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the company becoming the water provider for Whitwell, Powells Crossroads and surrounding area customers.

Employees from the Sequatchie Valley District and their families gathered Thursday, October 26, at Whitwell’s Veterans Memorial Park pavilion to spend time together and reflect on the great work the team has accomplished over the last 10 years. Tennessee American Water’s duck mascot Puddles made a special guest appearance, entertaining guests of all ages.

“It was a great day to celebrate our team and what we have accomplished in the community’s water system over the last 10 years,” said senior supervisor for Tennessee American Water Jason Campbell. “Our employees don’t expect a lot of recognition, but we want to show appreciation to them and their families for the work they put in daily to provide clean, safe, reliable water to our neighbors, friends and family.”

Since acquiring the City of Whitwell’s water system in December of 2013, Tennessee American Water has made over $11.5 million in improvements. Through the expertise of American Water, some examples of improvements include new storage tanks, new water lines with larger flow capability, improved fire flow, environmental compliance, and an emergency interconnect with the City of Dunlap. Several employees, who were originally employed by the city, transitioned to the Tennessee American Water team in 2013 and have witnessed first-hand and been a part of these benefits to the community.
