The Beene Pearson Public Library of South Pittsburg, welcomes the community for the renewed story time and education, free programs for adults, and a designated story time for special needs children and their parents.

On the fourth Saturday of each month, families can enjoy weekend story times and regular weekly story time sessions are held every Wednesday at 10am for children three years and older.

Each month, the library features a different book theme. In August, they celebrated “Bee Happy” and offered free yoga classes. September’s theme, “Bee Healthy,” featured talks by healthcare professionals, including doctors and dentists, who engaged with the children. Looking ahead to October, the library has plans for a guest speaker who will discuss emergency planning, aligning with National Fire Prevention Month.

Library Director Kellye Hogan is eager to introduce educational science projects, including an exploration of where chocolate originated, beginning with the cacao plant. She also has plans to expand the library’s book collection.

Additionally, a volunteer-led program focusing on teaching people about Windows Suite is set to commence. This program will accommodate up to 10 participants and will be conducted in the library’s conference room.

Moreover, Hogan is committed to providing a supportive environment for special needs children, with a particular focus on those with autism. In her vision, she aims to provide parents with a chance to unwind and rejuvenate while enjoying quality time with their child in a welcoming space within the library.

The library’s operating hours are as follows: Monday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday CLOSED, Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Sunday CLOSED.
