Local South Pittsburg resident, Stephen Hargis, has reportedly been the victim of a serial vandal, experiencing multiple incidents of property damage over the past few weeks.
Hargis has reported that his property has been vandalized six times in the past few weeks, resulting in significant damage. Over this period, four vehicles have been targeted, with a total of 10 tires slashed and two cars keyed. The most recent incident occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 5:20 a.m., when two more tires on his truck were slashed, and the left rear side was keyed. The cumulative cost of the vandalism now exceeds $2,000.
Additionally, Hargis mentioned that at least five others in town have experienced similar acts of vandalism and have captured footage of the suspect, who appears to be committing these crimes between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Despite filing multiple police reports, the situation remains unresolved. Hargis urges the community of South Pittsburg to stay vigilant and assist in identifying the individual responsible, stating that any information leading to an arrest would be greatly appreciated. Further Hargis expressed frustration with the lack of progress and called on citizens to take action.
If anyone has information regarding the suspect, call the South Pittsburg Police Department at (423) 837-5003.
