South Pittsburg was named Tennessee’s highest-scoring high school football team for the 2025 season, according to MaxPreps.
The Pirates scored 740 points in 15 games, the most of any team in the state, earning recognition as part of MaxPreps’ annual list of the highest-scoring team from each state.
Despite being shut out 10-0 by Silverdale in the season opener, South Pittsburg did not score fewer than 31 points in any other game. The Pirates posted multiple lopsided wins during the season, including an 86-7 victory over Copper Basin that tied a school record for most points scored in a single game.
South Pittsburg finished the season with six shutouts, three coming in the playoffs, and allowed just 62 points all year.
The season concluded with a Class 1A state championship, as South Pittsburg defeated McKenzie 42-14 in the BlueCross Bowl at Finley Stadium. The win marked the eighth state title in program history.
