The South Pittsburg’s Board of Mayor & Commissioners (BoMC) unanimously agreed to donate $7,500 towards the South Pittsburg High School Pirates football team in the purchase of state championship rings.
According to City Administrator Michael Hudson, Head Coach Wes Stone recently reached out to the board to request the $7,500 donation to help purchase new championship rings for the team. Similarly in the past, the rings are to be used to showcase the Pirates’ participation in the 2025 TSSAA Class 1A BlueCross Bowl, particuarlily for their victory within the game and becoming Class 1A state champions.
“They’re asking if the city can help with that purchase again since they’ve won the state championship,” Hudson said.
Hudson further noted donations worth $7,500 were approved in the past during previous city administrations. Because of this, it was ultimately agreed the board would once again provide $7,500 to the South Pittsburg Pirates team, allowing Stone and others to purchase new rings for the Class 1A champions.
