In May of last year, an idea sprouted in Sheena Barra’s mind for a simple home-based Facebook store called Dear Heart Boutique selling children and infant items.

As a mother of two, Sheena’s passion lies in early childhood education. She holds a bachelor’s degree and spent 4 years teaching kindergarten. Sheena also boasts 8 years of management experience in grocery and for the last three years, she has been a stay-at-home mom. This unique blend of professional experience and the desire for a flexible schedule led to the creation of Dear Heart Boutique. The shop’s hours reflect the demanding schedule of motherhood and her journey to this point as one of dedication, determination, and a heartfelt tribute.

The name “Dear Heart” is deeply meaningful. It’s a tribute to her late mother, Donna Sanders, who affectionately called her “daughter dear heart.” In addition to the personal touch of the business name, her store is more than just a business; it’s a social connection. The boutique is a vibrant part of the community, offering not just a place to shop but a place to engage and socialize. It’s a vital change from the isolation that can come with being a stay-at-home mom.

The boutique primarily caters to the children’s market, offering a wide range of clothing for both boys and girls from 0/3 months to 10/12. It also features baby blankets, toys, and stuffed animals. The store’s focus is on making shopping an enjoyable experience for children, complete with an “adoption center” where they can “adopt” a stuffed animal and fill out an adoption certificate. In the future, Sheena envisions expanding the boutique to cater to both children and adults.

Dear Heart Boutique sources its inventory from U.S.-based wholesalers, ensuring the highest quality and keeping up with the latest trends. Two primary vendors, Mardis Crafts and Lavender Forest Farms, enhance the boutique’s offerings with their unique handcrafted items, from crocheted animals to knitted baby items.

The store offers convenient ways to shop, with contact through the Facebook group page via messenger. Clients can choose between boutique or porch pick-up. Dear Heart Boutique is open on Monday and Wednesday from 2-5 and Saturdays from 11-3.

You’ll find this hidden gem at 2630 Highway 283 in Powells Crossroads, TN. Whether it’s a gift for a child or a little something for yourself, Dear Heart Boutique aims to bring joy, connection, and delightful finds to the community.
