James and Mabel Shook built Shooks Motel in the 1960s at Kimball near Turney Grocery. The motel was located on U. S. Highways 64-41-72, and their advertisements boasted of the motel as being modern, with tile baths, electric heat, air conditioning, TV, with a playground for children. The Shook’s lived in a home to the left of the motel which was located within a half mile of the Dixie Lee Junction and I-24. Both have been gone for over a decade.
