Sharon “Cookie” Goforth Morrison, 75, of Whitwell, was called home on Wednesday, January 1. On November 1, 1949, she was born to the late Andrew Phillip Goforth and Minnie Ella “Sally” Saynes Goforth. Cookie was married to Thomas “Tommy” Morrison. She had many different jobs throughout her adult life, but above all she was a wife, mother and grandmother. Cookie was known to be a lively woman. Although she didn’t like to be messed with, she loved as hard as she fought. She was giving to a fault.
Cookie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas “Tommy” Morrison; brothers, Phillip Allen “Pete” Goforth, Miles “Red” Goforth; and sister, Phyllis Ann Rollins.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, John David Fitzgerald; daughter, Carolyn “Renee” (Sammy) Allison; daughter-in-law, Amanda White; brother, Andrew “Darrell” (Jeanette) Goforth; sisters, Jocelyn Dotson, Sandra Kay (Dwight) Rankin; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation is Friday, January 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, January 3, at 1 p.m. at Condra Memorial Cemetery in Whitwell with Pastor David Berry officiating.
Pallbearers are Avery White, Tyler Kilgore, Zane Fitzgerald, Rick White and Jacob Kelly.
