A Seal of Excellence ceremony, honoring high school recipients from across Marion County, was recently held at Jasper’s Western Sizzlin restaurant.
The Seal of Excellence celebration is hosted annually by the Marion County Board of Education to recognize high school seniors for their academic achievements. To earn the Seal of Excellence, students must complete either a university or technology pathway, earn a grade of B or higher in at least ten accelerated courses, and maintain a GPA of 3.20 or above.
Sherry Prince, Director of Career and Technical Education for the Board of Education, explained that the event was sponsored by the school system, with support from Tower Community Bank and County Commissioner David Abbott. Western Sizzlin provided the meal and arranged the setup for the event, allowing students and staff to come together to celebrate this significant academic honor.
Ninety-one students from Marion County, South Pittsburg, and Whitwell High Schools attended this year’s celebration. Students received their awards from principals Larry Ziegler, Kelli Nelson, and Teena Casseday. The event concluded with a group photo of the Class of 2025 honorees, commemorating their academic achievements and determination throughout the school year.
