Samaria Majel Aker, 23

Samaria Majel Aker, 23, of South Pittsburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 30.

On February 13, 2001, Samaria Majel Aker made her debut into the world. She was born to Artelia Green and Jason Aker. She dedicated her life to Christ at a very early age at Mount Bethlehem Baptist Church. Samaria was the true definition of her “brother’s keeper” as she cared deeply for all of her siblings.

Sam attended South Pittsburgh High School and was a part of the graduating class of 2018. She had recently expressed interest in attending dental hygienist school. Samaria was extremely creative and enjoyed creating content on her YouTube channel. She was also extremely fond of educating people on sickle cell, a blood disorder that she had since birth.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Pickett; grandfather, Freddie Pickett; great-grandmother, Mable (Lou) Green; great-aunt, Kathy Cunningham; aunt, Alfreda Green; great-uncles, Arthur and Eddie Pickett; paternal great-aunts, Kayla Johnson and Gladys (Cookie) Wooten.

Among those she leaves to cherish her memories are her parents; sisters, Morgan Aker, Israel Moore, and Cheyenne Aker; brothers, Makiah Layne, Elias Hampton, and J.J. Aker; maternal grandmother, Sylvia Green; paternal grandparents, Hilda Aker and Bonnie Aker; nephew, Oliver Layne; best friend, La’Ronto Tipton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church, 103 N. Holly Ave, South Pittsburg with Pastor Richard Smith and Pastor Lamar Jenkins officiating.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, at Mt. Bethlehem Baptist Church prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.

Pallbearers are La’Ronto Tipton, Eric Hale, Kevin Mitchell, Calvin Green, Tyrone Green and Zech Green. Honorary pallbearers are Elias Hampton, Makiah Layne, Ranye Tipton, Raquan Tipton, Jabari Mitchell, Jamal Mitchell, Kysaun Powell and Johnthan Holcomb.
