The Marion County Commissioner board discussed the potential sale of a small portion of property on Highway 108 to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).
The area in question, affected by a landslide, includes about 96 square feet of land, while the county owns the house and garage on the property. TDOT’s interest is only in purchasing this small section, not the entire property.
Mayor Jackson recommended against approving the sale unless TDOT agreed to purchase the entire property. After further discussion to clarify the property’s value and the area involved, the board unanimously approved a motion to re-engage in discussions with TDOT representatives for further negotiations.
Later at the following meeting the approval for the entire land in question was approved unanimously in the amount of $10,000.
