Ruby Jewell Hammons, 86 of South Pittsburg passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 20. On November 1, 1938, she was born to the late Robert Hogwood and Della Roberson Hogwood. Ruby loved taking care of people. She was a Christian woman and took very good care of her daughter and grandsons. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her family and loved them very much.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Della Hogwood, husband Tarrell Hammons, daughter Penny Hammons Reeves, brothers Charles Hogwood, James Carl Hogwood, Chas Gifford Hogwood and sisters Leatha Hogwood Newt, Laura Mae Holland Hibbs, Thelma Virginia Higgins, Daisy Lea Rogers and Mary Etta Murray.
Left to cherish her memories are her beloved grandsons Chase (Danielle) Reeves of South Pittsburg, Matthew Reeves of Olympia, Washington, great grandson Morris Reeves of Olympia, Washington, son-in-law Jeffery Reeves, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Signature HealthCare of Monteagle Rehab and Wellness Center and Donna Adams of Hospice of Chattanooga.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services were also held on Wednesday, May 28 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Ronnie Case who officiated.
Ruby was laid to rest on Wednesday, May 28 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper immediately after the funeral service was held.
Pallbearers were Chase Reeves, Kelly Smith, Davey Padgett and Tristan Smith, with honorary pallbearer being Matthew Reeves.
