Roy Lee Fowler, 77

Roy Lee Fowler, 77, of New Hope went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023.  He was surrounded by his loving family and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.  He was born in Cleveland on Nov.28, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his father, Haskel Fowler and mother, Molly Jane Morgan Fowler; son, Tony Lee Fowler; brothers, TJ Dunn, and RL Culberson; and sister, Gwen Taylor.

Those left to cherish his memory  are his loving wife of 42 years, Darlene Blevins Fowler, sons, Jason D. Hill, Stacey D. Fowler, Roy D. Fowler, and daughter-in-law, Tracy Fowler; brothers, Jerry, Joe and Perry Culberson, and sister, Phyllis McDaniel; brother-in-law, Randall Blevins and sisters-in-law, Melissa Culberson and Ginger Blevins; grandsons, Tabor Hill and Brennan Hill; granddaughters, Mandy Thomas, Tiffany Fowler and Kaylan Hill; great-grandchildren, Bryant Thomas, Bristol Thomas, Bella Thomas, Camryn Benson, Easton Deupree, Maddox Hart and Lake Web-Hill; multiple nieces and nephews.

Roy attended Soddy Daisy High School before joining the National Guard and was a drywall contractor for many years before re-entering the Army in 1980.  He served in South Korea, Germany, and Desert Shield in the Gulf.  He retired in July 1990 and was a 100% disabled Veteran.  He later became a city carrier for the U.S. Postal service in Chattanooga, TN before retiring in 1996.  He was an avid golfer.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 2 (CDT) in the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg with Pastor David Hoschar officiating. Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard conducted military honors at the cemetery. Roy was laid to rest at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.

Pallbearers were Jason Hill, Roy Dean Fowler, Tabor Hill, Brennan Hill, Jackie Wilson, and Randall Blevins.
