Robert “Bob” Eugene Cox Jr., 68

Robert “Bob” Eugene Cox Jr., 68 of Rossville, Georgia was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 20. Born on March 10, 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama, Bob was the beloved son of Robert Eugene Cox Sr. and Irene Sims Cox. He grew up with a deep love for learning, and a heart devoted to service. Bob married Francis “Darlene” Campbell, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. Together, they built a family that was the center of his world. He was a proud father and a cherished Papa, always ready with a dad joke to bring a smile to those around him.  For 27 years, Bob faithfully served as a Chaplain at CHI Memorial Hospital, offering comfort, guidance, and compassion to countless patients and families. His ministry was a reflection of his unwavering devotion to God and his commitment to serving others.  Outside of his work, Bob had many passions. He was fascinated by trains, spending time learning about rail lines and enjoying the beauty of locomotives. He was also an avid runner, participating in marathons and finding joy in the discipline and endurance of the sport.  Bob’s life was defined by service, love, and joy. He treasured time with his family, delighted in sharing laughter and lived each day with purpose. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother Irene Sims Cox.

Left to cherish his memories are his father Robert Eugene Cox Sr., wife Darlene Campbell, son Justin Robert (Kelley) Cox, daughters Julie Parker, Candace (John) Spangler, brother Gary (Beverly) Cox, grandchildren Courtneigh Spangler, Hunter Spangler, Emily Cox, Lucas Cox and Sowon Bae, great grandchild Harper Mae Diaz, several nieces, nephews, as well as other family members and special friends.

Visitation was on Saturday, November 22 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday, November 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services were also on Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Rayner Edwards who officiated and speakers Bill Owens and David Tullock.

Bob was laid to rest on Sunday, November 23 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper immediately after the funeral services were held.

Pallbearers were Justin Cox, Gary Cox, Malaki Diaz, John Spangler, and Daniel Varnell.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
