Richard Wayne “Rick” Coates, 73, of Bridgeport, Alabama was born December 22, 1950 and passed away on Friday, March 1, at his home. Rick was a 1968 graduate of Bridgeport High School and attended University of North Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked numerous jobs throughout his career including at TVA and City of Bridgeport Police Department. Rick was a member of the Rocky Springs Church of Christ.
Rick is survived by his brother, John T. (Betty) Coates of Anderson, SC, nephews Drew Taylor and Patrick Coates, niece MaryAlice Sumrall and a host of cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alice Geraldine “Jerry” Henson Coates and John Thomas Coates, Sr. and his brother, David P. Coates.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, at Rocky Springs Church of Christ in Bridgeport. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow beginning at 2 p.m. with Bro. Henry Camp officiating.
