Aj’s Deli, a deli shop that serves sandwiches and breakfast foods alike, has recently held its official ribbon cutting in Jasper. Located near the Square in Jasper on 4279 Main Street, Aj’s is a quaint restaurant that serves a variety of sandwiches, such as Italian, Turkey, and Philly Cheese Steak, as well as more traditional American fare such as burgers and hot dogs. They also serve breakfast throughout the morning hours, baking homemade pancakes and other breakfast based dishes.
Andy Hatzilouloudes, alongside his wife Jamie are the owners of Aj’s Deli, whose family has been in the restaurant business for over 60 years. Family is what also drew them into coming to the area. Which both Andy and Jamie have originally been from White Plains, New York. And upon visiting their son who moved to the Jasper area before them, is what inspired them to move closer to the area to not only be closer to their son, but to also even establish a new business within the town itself.
“We started coming to visit and the views are spectacular. I love this small town. Everybody was so polite and we said; ‘Let’s do something here’. We want to bring something to this community because you only have so many options here and we wanted to bring different things, different flavors and different food,” explained Jaime. Andy agreed how he and Jaime wanted to bring something new to the area, something different than the fast food fare within the area.
“So apart from the fast food stuff, we wanted to bring a little bit of homemade stuff down here from, you know, a different area,” stated Andy. All sandwiches and meals are prepped and homemade by all the chefs at Aj’s Deli. A new business rooted within Marion County itself.
