Peggy Rose Smith, 53

Peggy Rose Smith, 53, of Tracy City, Tennessee was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 11.  On February 20, 1971, she was born to the late David Joe Tanner and Juanita Ott Tanner.  Peggy was married to James O. Smith for 36 years and was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church.  She was a homemaker and loved homesteading, canning, cooking, crocheting, and taking care of any animal.  Peggy was an educator who loved her family and spending time with them.  She cared so much about other people and children and would help anyone in need.

Peggy is preceded in death by her father, David Joe Tanner; daughters, Sara Ida Bell Smith, and Chelsea Marie Smith.

Left to cherish her memories are her mother, Juanita Ott Tanner; husband, James O. Smith; sons, James David (April Dawn) Smith, Travis (Kayla) Miles; daughters, Kala Juanete Smith, Felicia (David) Steinwinter, Shasta Lynn Smith, Kylie Mae Smith; brothers, Teddy Cornette, Mark Cornette; sisters, Anna Davis, Alice Cagle, Nacrina Castro; grandchildren, Chandler Steinwinter, Hunter Miles, Trinity Miles, James Smith, Wesley Smith, Jefferson Smith, Emily  Smith; aunt,  Annie Henry, several nieces and nephews; other family members; special friends, Susan, Jaylin Hanner, as well as her nurses that have taken very good care of her.

The family will hold visitation on Wednesday, January 15, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, January 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services are on Thursday, January 16, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home with Brother Jim Troyer officiating.

Peggy will be laid to rest on Thursday, January 16, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jasper, immediately following the funeral service

Pallbearers are James Smith, Felicia Steinwinter, David Smith, Travis Miles, Kala Smith and Shasta Smith.
